Lavera is one of the grand fathers of green beauty & is well-known for their natural and organic skin care products, and affordable price point, so I was super excited to try their Hydro Effect Serum. I’ve been using it for at least six weeks prior reviewing, since that’s what I always do with skincare.
Featuring an anti-pollution complex, the serum has been specifically designed to protect the skin from harmful environmental factors, such as fine particles and exhaust emissions, which attack skin cells and affect the skin’s natural protection.
On a first glance, I was really impressed to see that the product is certified by the Vegan Society and NATRUE – so the product is 100 percent natural and organic, and suitable for vegans. It’s also packed with a variety of nourishing, high-quality organic plant extracts – ingredients include aloe vera, mango, peach, shea butter, sunflower seed oil, soybean oil and rapeseed sterols.
The main active ingredients are organic algae and natural hyaluronic acid. The algae protects skin cells, counters the effects of free radicals and prevents premature skin ageing. The hyaluronic acid assists in the synthesis of collagen, therefore helping skin fight the effects of ageing, and helps the skin retain moisture.
The serum has a lighter, runnier consistency, but it was easy to apply and glided across my skin like silk. It has alcohol as one of the first ingredients, but honestly, you wouldn’t know it, as it does not feel drying at all, and You guys know I have pretty sensitive skin. It does have a citrusy, fruit scent, which is due to containing mango, peach and lemon; it is refreshing and a great way to wake up in the morning.
Lavera recommends gently massaging the serum into cleansed skin as the first step of your daily skincare routine. Makes sense for a serum, no? It’s reasonably priced compared to other similar products on the market. It has to be highlighted that one pump goes really far too and is enough to cover the entire face, so the 30ml bottle will last you a long time.
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Alcohol*, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Squalane, Isoamyl Laurate, Fragrance (Parfum)**, Lauroyl Lysine, Sodium PCA, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract*, Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit Extract*, Marrubium Vulgare Extract, Fucus Serratus Extract*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil*, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Dodecane, Octyldodecanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Sterols, Limonene**, Benzyl Salicylate**, Linalool**, Citral**, Geraniol** * Ingredients from Certified Organic Agriculture ** Natural Essential Oils *** Fair Trade
What are my final thoughts on it? I really enjoyed using it while it lasted and I liked that it had tightening effect to it. Due to this factor, I soon stopped using it twice daily, and only used it in the morning on my face, neck, chest and the back of my hands. Seriously, don’t save your green beauty products, they are meant to be used, and I used it generously. As I already mentioned, it has runnier texture and sank into the skin quickly, leaving no residue. As I have dry skin, I needed to follow up with the moisturiser.
At this point I am not too sure if I will repurchase it, as I have an array of serums to be tested and reviewed – at this point the blogger’s overwhelm is getting very real, not going to lie. If you are looking for affordable hydrating serum that would shield your skin from pollution and would have a tightening effect to it, this might be your perfect product? We are all different, our skin is different and what suits one person might be not good for the other. I find skincare deeply personal, do You?
