*sadly Love Lula is no more. Sob!
Let’s see a bit about the brand first, shall we?
Ayumi is a natural skincare brand, inspired by the ancient principles of Ayurveda. A holistic brand, lovingly made in the UK, Ayumi is certified as both vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.
Dating back approximately 5000 years, Ayurveda is an Indian system of health and wellbeing with the aim of reaching a state of content. Now, however, it is more difficult to maintain a balance in our new, urban environment. This is what Ayumi stands for – maintaining balance in our new surroundings. Ayumi is committed to making natural and mindful living available to everyone, bringing back the natural environment even to the busiest of cities. Bursting with aromatic essential oils, organic extracts and Ayurvedic ingredients, Ayumi is designed to balance the skin and the mind.
I have tried a lot of the products over the last year, repurchased more times than I can remember! Let’s have a look at a few of my favourites, shall we?
AYUMI SANDALWOOD BODY WASH*
I have to say I really enjoy this, the scent is something I really like, it lathers and washes the body really well and is not drying at all. My overzealous family members use way too much of it, I am seriously considering body washes quotas in our house, lol! It seriously goes at blink-and-you-will-miss-it rate in our house, I have repurchased it more times than I can remember. Happy to report no irritations or other negatives about it – only positive user experience.
INGREDIENTS: Aqua (Water), Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Coco-Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Acrylates Copolymer, Parfum (Fragrance Essential Oil blend), Glyceryl Oleate, Glycerin (Vegetable Origin), Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Flower Oil, Pogostemon Cablin ((Patchouli) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Orbignya Oleifera (Babussa)Seed Oil, Santalum Spicatum (Sandalwood) Wood Oil, Piper Nigrum (Black Pepper) Seed Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Jasminum Grandiflorum Flower Extract., Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark Extract, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Linalool, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone
AYUMI SANDALWOOD BODY SCRUB*
Same smell, OK formula – and by that I mean this does it’s job, but I would like to see more scrubby bits. This is a bit too gentle for my liking, so I have to use more of it to get the job done. I prefer gentle scrubs for my face, but much rougher ones for the body, I like to practically scrub it raw to feel it working. Very foamy formula, I haven’t come across many scrubs like this – you certainly won’t need a body wash when you will use this!

AYUMI ARGAN SANDALWOOD HAIR SHAMPOO
Love this as well – and I do not say it lightly about natural shampoos at all! 95% of other natural shampoos either leave my hair limp, frizzy and generally bad looking – or give me dandruff or other scalp problems. It is not on the same level as my Holy Grail shampoo that is Rahua Voluminous Shampoo (review here), as I feel like this does not last as long, the hair is a bit more flat with a bit less shine – but I am happy enough. Having in mind that 95% of other shampoos don’t work for me, and this one does, that is saying a lot!
INGREDIENTS: Aqua (Water), Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Coco-Glucoside, Decyl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Acrylates Copolymer, Parfum (Fragrance: Essential Oil Blend), Glyceryl Oleate, Quaternium-80, Glycerin, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Panthenol, Acacia Concinna (Shikakia)Fruit Extract, Sapindus Trifoliatus (Aritha)Fruit Extract, Polyquaternium-11, Phyllanthus Emblica ( Amla) Extract, Cyperus Rotundus (Java)Root Extract, Eclipta Prostrata (Bhringaraj) Extract, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Flower Oil, Cucurbita Pepo Seed Oil, Jasminum Grandiflorum Flower Extract., Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchuoli) Leaf Oil, Santalum Spicatum (Sandalwood) Wood Oil, Sodium Levulinate, Piper Nigrum (Black Pepper) Seed Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark Extract, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone
AYUMI BIO ACTIVE GROWTH HAIR OIL*
You get a very generous amount of this at very affordable price. The description promises a thickening and strengthening of hair, the formula seemed gorgeous on paper – oil has a combination of ancient Ayurvedic remedies renowned for their hair strengthening properties and ability to minimise hair loss, we blend antioxidant and vitamin-rich Bringaraj, Amla, Shikakai and Aritha in a base of Organic Coconut Oil to help thicken and volumise thin and damaged hair. Carrot seed oil, Bhrahmi and Methi are traditionally used to induce hair growth, improve circulation and rejuvenate hair follicles for long and lustrous hair. How can you say no to that? Right?
INGREDIENTS: Sesamum Indicum (Sesame)Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Almond) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Organic Coconut )Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor)Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Oil, Amyris Balsamifera Oil, Canarium luzonicum (Elemi) Oil, Cedrus Deodora (Cedarwood Himalayan)Oil, Helianthus Annuus Seed (Sunflower) Oil, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Oil, Daucus carota Sativa Seed (Carrot) Oil, Centella asiatica (Brahmi) Extract, Eclipta Alba (Bhringraj) Extract, Phyllanthus Emblica (Amla) Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract, Sapindus Mukurossi (Aritha) Extract, Trigonella Foenum Graecum (Fenugreek) Extract, Acacia Concinna (Shikakai) Extract, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Cinnamyl Alcohol , Cinnamal, Coumarin, Eugenol, Geraniol, Benzyl Benzoate, Farnesol, Limonene, Linalool We use no mineral oils within our products.
There are also pure cold pressed single oils, like sesame or castor, soaps, skincare, body lotions, pure glycerine and henna. As you can see from the ingredients list, not everything is purist-level-natural, so be sure to peruse the ingredients list of anything you intend to purchase beforehand. Henna is the only product I didn’t like from what I have tried, because it tinted my hair bright orange, which didn’t come off for weeks. One type of products I haven’t tried and not sure if I will is skincare, because I am not sure if my skin would agree with it. You see, my skin is the most sensitive of them all, and knowing Ayumi is the sister company of the Urban Veda, which my skin didn’t handle well (redness and some irritation), I am understandably shying away from it. Everybody less sensitive than me, be my guest. You can always pass it to your friends or family or use up as body care if it won’t suit You?
Oh, did I mentioned how affordable everything is? Starting from only £2.50 for soaps to 9.99£ for huge 250ml bottles of body oil, with most products at 6.99£ range this is definitely a steal. With most brands aiming for “eco luxe” (read = pricy) products, this definitely a brand that flies under radar – but I think it deserves our love! I personally don’t see anyone talking about this much, so let me be the one who brings it to your attention. Let me know your feedback on it later on?
CHECK IT OUT HERE
That’s it for now, see You here again soon. I have a couple of posts planned for this week, so please be sure to check back in a couple of days – I appreciate that.
Lots of Love & Light,
Renata.
