Musings & Things August 2024 - Green Life In Dublin

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And welcome if You are new here xo

Musings & Things August 2024 - Green Life In Dublin
Musings & Things November 24 – Moldy Movie, Magnesium Oil, Peri Menopause Awards

How are You, I hope You are well? Let’s talk about some things that is happening at Casa Del Green Life In Dublin, as well as some products that I am buying/ using right now? I thought You would never ask πŸ™‚

MUSINGS

This month would be my least favourite if it wasn’t for my birthday at the end of it. Cold, rainy and kind of gloomy where You would need to create Your own sunshine. I started this month to the trip to the dentist 150km away – because no doctor or dentist in my new town would take us in – and witnessing a car crash happening on the other side of M50 in front of our eyes. The barrier in the middle of the road stopped the car parts flying our way. I am still shaken, praying for those people but also thanking our guardian angels every day.

Please hug Your family members and tell them You love them! Let the small things go. All of it can be gone in a flash.

FALL WEATHER = CANDLE SEASON

This is the candle season, but just like with my food and products, I want them non toxic! Natural waxes candles scented with pure essential oils are what I seek, but they are not easy to find. Pure beeswax candles are also something I love, they purify the air and are the perfect for when You don’t want a scented option, but they are soooo hard to find. Luckily for me, I love a scented candle and Sand & Fog have some really good ones. Live The Light save the day each time, they stock them -at affordable prices, so many to choose from. If You are a pet owner like me, they have Sand & Paws options for You too – candles and room sprays to neutralize pet odors.

MOLDY MOVIE

Many of You will know David Asprey as biohacker, maybe even the first OG biohacker, but did You know that mold was the root of his issues that wrecked his health? Me neither, till I watched his podcast with Michaela Peterson on Youtube. He went on to create a movie about it, we should watch it. For those of You with persistent health issues, that doctors “can’t explain”, this might click some puzzle pieces for You.

MAGNESIUM OIL DIY

Magnesium oil is so easy to DIY, did You know that? I am making the fresh batch this month, since I ran out and my sleep suffered so much. Let me know if You want a post on how I fixed my sleeping issues naturally. Magnesium is a key player into this.

Ps. If You want to know what I DIY, please hit the search button on the right side of the blog – I have a post on everything I am making myself. I also have a post on 45+ things I am not buying. Just saying πŸ™‚

HOLISTIC MEDICINE CABINET

Also, would You be interested in my holistic medicine tour blog post? I have an old blog post of what I use in case my family gets sick, but it could do with update. Almost all of the products stayed the same, I might needed to change a brand or two – thanks to Brexit and products being no longer available.

PRE TEEN BEAUTY AWARDS? PERI MEnOUPAUSE AWARDS?

What the heck are cooling pyjamas made of? Why is best fan a Dyson? Cheaper fans don’t work or something? Why do we need a perimenopause cleanser, won’t regular cleanser do? Why is everything “best” priced closer to a 100€ per product? As You can see, seeing these kind of awards got me miffed – totally unnecessary push from the industry! Why are pre – teen beauty awards a thing?! Kids do not need skincare or beauty products, why did we allow the industry to create yet another generation is customers? And normalize it so fast? Have we gone mad?!

Irish independent feature/ mention

Meadhbh McGrath from Irish Independent was kind enough to feature me in Irish Independent back in 2023 and is asking my two cents on certain topics from time to time – thank You! This time round the topic was compostable or reusable sheet masks & my choice was 100% Pure Caffeine Sheet Mask – it truly makes Your skin red carpet ready. It stands out from the rest for sure. I have reviewed it on my old blog back in 2016, which I will link below if You want to see it. In the post I also give You a tip on how to make it (or any other sheet mask) last three times longer. No shame in the saving game! I get mine from Live In The Light online store, find the link at the end of the post. Happy masking!

Irish Independent, Natural Deodorants & Me – Green Life In Dublin

posting every second week from now on

If that’s ok with You, I will post twice a month from now on. I have made an explanation post, but if You want the short version, here it is. I worked myself into the ground trying to please algorithms, blogs & media need to be posted at the same time on the regular – and You are punished if You don’t. I take pride in testing thing very thoroughly before reviewing them – six weeks for skincare! – and I don’t want to post lukewarm content for the sake of posting. Keeping online presence is another full time job for all of us & it is not something I want to be doing all the time. I have far too much stress, anxiety and health problems in real life, which is why I need to learn take time off line to focus on myself. I hope that’s ok with You and You are here to stay. The content will be only better, pinky swear.

Changes to Green Life In Dublin

THINGS

I spent far too much money on Sand & Fog candles.

Fast forward to the middle of the month and I have something to fess up. I made not one but two orders from Dr. Hauschka and one from Holland & Barrett. It is not my fault that Black Friday sales start earlier and earlier this year – have You noticed that? Plus it is my birthday at the end of this month, so I am using that as an excuse to treat myself. So what did I get and how much did it cost me?

Dr. Hauschka:

Advent calendar – 42€

I know, I already have HB calendar, so technically it is an overkill, but how could I pass 42€ offer on it? The exact same one is 140€ in Naturisimo and other places. Their Rose day cream has been my go to for a decade, so naturally I am keen to try more products from the line.

Rose Set – less than 32€ for a set

This contains my beloved Rose day cream, soothing cleansing milk and face toner. Very happy with the first two, but I might pass the toner to my daughter.

Lip Balm Jar – 9.77€

This together with the lip balm stick are one of my favourite lip balms ever – thick, lush, healing and protecting AND stay on the lips! They both ended up in my Holy Grail Lip Balms post, which I will link for Your perusion. Initially the lip balm stick was also in my cart and coupled with the discount it ended up being bargain 6.77€. It was hard to leave it, but I strongly suspect it will be in one of the baggies in the Advent calendar.

Soothing Skin Lotion – 20€

This is aimed at skin prone to redness and enlarged capillaries – formulated with rose. This is me through and through. Excited to try it when it comes.

Holland & Barrett order:

Pretty much self explanatory. Please keep in mind I like to stock up for winter. Plandemic showed us how fragile system is & that the supply and demand can be easily disrupted. Ireland is also not used to snow or icy roads, it halts life for days and weeks on end. So I like to have good things in my house rather than in the shops.

Ecco Verde Order

This month is a slippery slope, I swear! I finished one of the Crazy Rumors Biggie lip balms and have decided to check ecco verde website if they had any deals – not only they did, but they also had new favours I have never tried. So I ended up with four of them at €6.94 a pop. Couldn’t pass it up, as they are normally a few cents short of 12€. I also got something very interesting that I never heard before -a powder to be made into a paste to remove body hair. Sort of like Veet but natural. I am yet to receive an order or try it, so I will keep You posted.

I might purchase Naturisimo natural make up box if that comes along, but there are no signs of it just yet.

I hope You aren’t disappointed with that. I am only one woman and my sensitive skin and my monies cannot keep up with what’s new and what’s trending in the green beauty world. Expect more “Shop My Stash” posts and individual products reviews going forward. I hope You will stay for the ride.
