Slow Fashion Year – October 2024 – Green Life In Dublin

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And welcome if You are new here xo

How are all of You, I hope You are all doing well. It is time for update of my Slow Fashion Year journey. After putting a bit of a pause on charity shop trips, I managed to score a few awesome bargains – emphasis on a few. Let’s see what I bought and how much did I spend on fashion in October? I thought You will never ask 🙂

A  little bit of back story if You are new here. I’ve made this year into Slow Fashion Project Year again and I documented my journey so far in this post:

Slow Fashion Year 2024 – January to April – Green Life In Dublin

In that post I not only documented everything I have bought this year (prices and all) but I also gave my best tips for thrifting. Be sure to check that out, because I have been thrifting for three decades plus, so I have picked up a thing or two along the way. In that same post You will find a link to a post of another Slow Fashion Year I did in 2022, so dive deeper if You are curious.

So, without further ado, let’s see what I bought this month, the why behind it and how much exactly I spent on fashion this month.

October 24 Where Price Monthly
Short biker boots TKMaxx 36.99
Wool mix socks Dunnes 5
5 x breton long sleeve tops Dunnes 25 66.99

I was a bit surprised myself to see no charity shops finds this month, but then again, that wasn’t my end goal for this year. I shop according to my needs & the goal for this month was to stock op on layers basics, get some warm socks and get winter shoes. The last’s year’s Timberlands wore so horribly in one season that they looked 10 years old in one season. That put me off the brand and that is a shame, because they were my go to for years and decades. I don’t know what changed, they were leather boots, like so many others I have had in the past. I wish I took picture before throwing them out – they looked like I have been hiking mountains for a decade. I’ve never seen boots deteriorate so quickly. My brother said the same thing, his boot’s colour came off after short while and they quickly deteriorated too. After much complaints he got them replaced by the brand – because he bought them from their official website. I got nowhere because mine came from TKMaxx. I am not sure if I ever repurchase Timberlands again – the brand has some improving to do and fast if they don’t want to lose customers worldwide. They said they switched the dye formula. But that should not affect quality of the leather, no?

Anyways, new brand and new boots later, I am hoping they will carry me more than for just one season. I have some leather boots that are decades old and still look good.

Many thanks for spending Your time with me. See You here soon.
